Istat: Young people, two million at risk exclusion
Italy has the highest number of young people in Europe who are not working and not studying
. They are called Neet (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and
in our country are over 2 million. Are aged between 15 and 29 years (the
21.2% of this age group), and males are especially at risk
exclusion. This was revealed today (May 26) ISTAT. These young people are involved in
inactivity (65.8%). The number of Neet is
grew in 2009, because of the economic crisis in more 126mila,
concentrated in the north (+85 thousand) and the Centre (+27 thousand). The majority
located in the South, over a million. There are also graduates (21% of
age group) and graduates (20.2%). It 's a growing problem, the OECD
already recorded in 2007 Italy 10.2% Neet against 5.8% of the EU. Neet
I have kids who lose their jobs: The longer this state of inactivity
, says the Institute, the more they have difficulties in returning to
world of work. Between the first quarter of 2008 and the same period in 2009
the probability of being in this condition was
73.3% (previous year was 68.6%), with higher values for males to
North. There is also increased the inflow of this condition of
students not in employment (from 19.9% to 21.4%), while decreases that of
exits to employment.
University: Less work for graduates
From 2001 to last year have quadrupled during the graduates, but they are grown
the difficulties in finding employment. These are the findings of Almalaurea
last report presented today (May 26) in the seat of
Crui. The survey shows how it has worsened the condition of all
graduates: those pre-reform in the years '99-2006
three years after graduation, the employment rate fell by 8.6 percentage points (from 85, 9
to 77.3) in five years, however, the employment rate decreased by
3.8 percentage points (from 90.5 to 86.7).
For the manager of the Almalaurea, Andrea Camels, the reform of
3 +2 was good. There are more and first degree, at least in the encroaching
'fuoricorso', along with more 'diligence
lessons and devoting more space to the stage. "I think that the results achieved, beyond
many things that the university should amend,
difficulties without adequate funding and continuing reforms, are a total
much more comforting than it should be repeating many of the scholars
flop of reform. "
One concern, however, "should be taken far more this:
that these young people, even the most prepared, are likely to remain trapped between
a production system that assumes a world of research and
lack of means," said Camels, the second which the efforts of many teachers and researchers
"will not be sufficient to ensure recovery and a
future development if the country will continue not to view the
investment in higher education and research as a priority and strategic investments
.
